Position: Mainframe Performance Analyst Location: Chicago, IL Long term contract Major HealthCare experience Candidate will analyze the characteristics of a running software system. They make tuning recommendations for improving performance and scalability. They measure the performance of a system under load conditions and understand the limits of software systems. They review application code and enforce coding standards. Summary of responsibilities: * Use standard performance test procedures and build reusable performance test automation. * Develop and execute performance tests using workload simulation tool. * Work on benchmark, load, stress, scale, and endurance testing on products under development and deployed to the field. * Troubleshoot, profile, monitor, and tune performance problems using a variety of tools. * Analyze and report performance test results. * Strong ability to work closely with the development and test teams to review designs for performance, identify performance bottlenecks, analyze and propose solutions to resolve performance issues. Skills * Five or more years experience working with CICS, DB2, Websphere MQ, COBOL, z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF. * Working knowledge of server applications and their interface to mainframe applications. * Application performance monitoring and tuning using products like Strobe, Freeze Frame, Sysview, CA performance tools. * Good documentation skills. * Expert knowledge of COBOL performance standards. * Ability to analyze performance data and provide recommendations on problem points. * Self-motivated individual who can work independently to get the job done (takes initiative). * Ability to grasp new concepts and technologies quickly. * Ability to multi-task and meet challenging project deadlines. * Good understanding of Software development / Test life cycle. * Excellent English skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
