Sybase Developer

7++ Months Long Term



The Senior Sysbase Developer will support the project team migrate a
portfolio of Java-based applications to a new verison of Sybase. (They are
migrating from 12.x to 15.7 (64-bit).



Role requires candidates with Sybase experience as opposed to SQL Server.

SQL Server and Oracle are different database technologies and don’t usually
translate well.

Duties:

- Code and deliver Sybase SQL and configuration updates as a result of the
Sybase version update

- Code and test new SQL procedures and packages as a result of new business
requirements and solution specifications

- Develop code SQL fixes as a result of production tickets

- Provide development support for system, user, and performance testing

- Create and update design and code construction documents as a result of
new code, code changes, and code fixes

Required skills:

- 5-7 years of Sybase experience (continuous/dedicated)

- strong critical thinking skills

- ability to quickly pick up new concepts and technologies

- ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a changing environment

- good organization skills (e.g. documentation, note taking, etc.)

- good communications skills and successful experience explaining technical
details to clients

- experience working with Java applications is nice-to-have but not required
