*Job Description:* The Applications Architect (AA) is the functional expert
for an application, a defined set of applications or a portfolio of related
applications.



*JAVA DEVELOPER/ARCHITECT:*  This position will lead our efforts and
train/assist DHS staff in designing, developing and deploying reports
within the Departments new Eligibility System.  This system is Java-based
and extensively uses the Oracle Stack.

*A.    **The reports will include:*

1.     Traditional periodic management reports using Oracle Business
Intelligence Enterprise Edition and publishing to structured areas within
the new system.

2.     Dashboard-style reports built from the application transactional
production database in real time or near real time.  These style reports
will provide high level summaries such as applications processed,
applications in queue, average time to process, etc.  These reports will be
deployed within the architecture and structure of the system using
role-based security and provide full drill capability to the underlying
detail data.

3.     Parameterized reports built within the system either/both the
production database and/or the reporting database.  These would include
parameters such as demographic groups, time scales, program groups, etc.
These reports will be both summary and detail type.

*B.    **Framework*: The system is a Java-based system built on the Oracle
stack of products.  They include:

1.     Oracle Linux

2.     Apache

3.     Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition

4.     Weblogic Suite and Management Pack

5.     Oracle SOA Suite and Management Pack

6.     BPM Suite

7.     Enterprise Repository

8.     Web Center Suite

9.     Policy Automation

10.  Identity and Access Management (OIM)

11.  OIM Connectors; Internet Directory, Database Application Table, Active
Directory.

*C.    **Experience:*

*1.     *The person should have extensive development experience.  The
reports (other than OBIEE (item a(i) above) will be developed within the
transactional application using the production database and deployed within
the "reports tab" of the application.

*2.     *The person should have experience at an architectural level with
the Java/Oracle Stack to help design the development/deployment process
that will integrate with the production application.

*3.     *The Applications Architect (AA) is the functional expert for an
application, a defined set of applications or a portfolio of related
applications. The Applications Architect is also responsible for bringing
an understanding of the enterprise, business system and industry to the
team(s) supporting or interfacing with the application. The primary
responsibility of a Applications Architect is to provide expertise in the
business process supported by the application, to prepare and review
designs, to recommend improvements, and to provide guidance during the
testing process. The Applications Architect helps the Programmers establish
a clear understanding of the business functional requirements and either
creates the functional designs to meet the requirements or reviews and
approves the designs written by the Programmers. The Applications Architect
must understand all aspects of their specific application(s), and the
underlying business process. The more experienced Applications Architect
plans, analyzes, and defines high- level software strategies and solutions.
Contained in the experienced role is the task of coordinating with other
Applications Architects to define technical requirements and long range
plans for meeting customer requirements.

*4.     *Must complete assigned task; communicate accurate and useful
status updates; follow quality standards; Ability to work in a team
environment; strong communication skills; both written and spoken.
