Position: Java Developer Location: Downtown Chicago Duration: 6 Month Must have recent experience with Spring MVC, Websphere, and preferably DB2. SOLID Java developer with strong understanding in distributed platforms, with a focus on performance tuning/scalability background. Experience with environment infrastructure, administration, configuration and support. Several years’ experience working with Spring MVC framework, Java architecture, Websphere, and DB2. Knowledgeable in processes for development, cycle, and production environment code promotion for distributed applications. · Responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting Web and Java applications · Gathers and analyzes requirements · Programs all or selected components of Web or Java applications. Documents components and applications · Researches, evaluates and recommends new tools and applications for use in assigned responsibilities · Demonstrates rapid ability to seek, evaluate, and come up to speed on new technologies and processes · Independently writes and reviews design specifications, code, and unit tests · Troubleshoots and resolves medium to high complexity application defects .Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience Requires in-depth knowledge and experience- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services- Independently solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions- Works independently, receives minimal guidance- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of other staff members Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. 8 years or greater of IT experience in software development, installation and modification in an online environment. *Required Skills:* Spring MVC framework - Understanding of distributed platform infrastructure and architecture - Experience in performance tuning and scalability of internal and vendor applications - Experience with applications using Java, Websphere, and DB2 - Experience in technology integration - Experience using third-party add-ons and/or add-on development - Deep knowledge of object oriented programming concepts and software development life cycle *Preferred Skills:* - Recent experience with Springboard 4 integration with Maven - Background/hands on experience with Java, Spring, Hibernate development - Background using SAS or IBM JRules - Background in UNIX scripting *Responsibilities to include:* 1. Participation in weekly technical meetings 2. Work closely with infrastructure teams to resolve all infrastructure issues and roadblocks. 3. Work closely with external software vendors for successful implementation of vendor tools. 4. Assist when needed on Technical planning of environment build-out and development activities to eliminate roadblocks. 5. Assist with direction for performance tuning activities. 6. Compose and review required technical documentation needed to comply with HCSC ITG and SDLC standards. 7. Work closely with internal teams to understand components being developed. 8. Help facilitate knowledge transfer for support transition from external team to internal HCSC IT team. 9. Work closely with management on communication and escalation of issues and risks. 10.
