*JOB SUMMARY*

The candidate initially will participate in the quarterly Oracle Patch Set
Update (‘PSU’) events for PCI compliance. Following established procedures,
the candidate will stage the software,  prepare the PSU precheck
documentation, execute the  patches and provide the post-patch
documentation. The majority of the patching events are executed during
off-hours maintenance windows. The dev/qa/uat/prod patching events will be
shared among the team; however the candidate must understand that frequent,
off-hour support will be needed.



The *candidate eventually may also participate in these activities:*

1)      Daily support tasks for Oracle 10g and 11g.

2)      Maintenance of existing environments.

3)      Setup of new environments including preparation of SAN storage
layouts.

4)      Capacity and scalability planning

5)      Assessment of load profile metrics and system performance reporting

6)      SQL tuning through use of auto trace, explain plan, GRID Control
and Automatic Workload Repository.

7)      Database upgrades.

8)      Troubleshooting of Oracle system issues in any environment.



The Oracle environment includes both Real Application Cluster (‘RAC’)
systems and non-RAC systems.  Automatic Storage Management (‘ASM’) is also
used where appropriate.  The Oracle databases run on Linux, Solaris, AIX
and Windows platforms. Physical standby is used on selected systems.
Advanced Replication and Golden gate are used on selected systems.



*REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE*

·         Must be able to work off-hours.

·         Must be detail-oriented and deliberate.

·         Must be a self-starter.

·         Must have the ability to seamlessly follow directions and
operating procedures.

·         Must have clear oral & written communication skills.

·         Must be able to lead initiatives in keeping with established
standards.

·         Must have strong ability to multi-task and re-adjust priorities
when project requirements change

·         5+ years’ of Oracle administration experience in Oracle10g and
11g (both 11.1 and 11.2).

·         5+ years’ administration experience with RAC including the
following:  installation, configuration, tuning, patching, troubleshooting.

·         5+ years’ experience with applying *PSU* patches in both RAC and
non-RAC environments.

·         5+ years’ experience working with Oracle physical standby
database (including configuration and switchover/failover).

·         Experience creating Unix shell scripts.

·         Experience working with Oracle GRID Control.

·         Experience working with Recovery Manager and Net backup.

·         Knowledge of networking concepts is a plus.

·         Knowledge of *Golden gate *and/or Oracle Advanced Replication is
a plus.
