Backup Administrator
Responsibilities
The position is responsible for the configuration, on-going administration,
maintenance, and evolution of backup strategies and solutions. Backup
Solutions currently utilize several tools for executing “to-disk” and
“to-tape” backup strategies for various systems, virtual machines,
databases, and user hardware.
The Backup Administrator will be responsible for off-site media management
and periodic testing of disaster recovery plans. The Backup Administrator
actively supports the production database environments and ever increasing
multi-fold enterprise data volumes. Specific responsibilities would include:
1. Maintaining and expanding the existing Backup strategy and infrastructure
2. Working directly with colleagues to maintain and evolve the Disaster
Recovery Planning, Testing and Response for the Enterprise
3. Leveraging the Backup Infrastructure for Operational efficiency,
including data staging, recovery and hardware migration
4. Collaborate with other team members on IT/Operations initiatives,
including data center, network administration, backup and disaster recovery
efforts and strategies
5. Participating in an on-call production technology support rotation
6. Various opportunities to grow professionally, expand skill sets and take
ownership
Mandatory Technical / Functional
Skills:
•
Strong problem solving and organizational skills
• Drive to succeed and desire to advance
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Backup Administrator / Recovery
Administrator / Data Prevention and Recovery Management
• • Knowledge of Tivoli Storage Manager 6.2 or higher
• • TSM Node Replication
• • TSM Deduplication TSM for Mail (Exchange)
• • TSM for Virtual Environments (VE)
• • Virtual Tape Library (VTL)
• Experience in managing different DD products like DD890 and DD990
• Management and administration using DD System manager
• CIFS & NFS setup and administration along with quota systems
• Setting up of Data domain VTL for diskless backup
• Configuration of different policy for data backup and archival
• In depth knowledge of DD boost for replication purpose
• Creating replication pairs, throttle setting,sync and resync operations.
• Troubleshooting network and NFS exports related issues.
