*Responsibilities*

Avaya Systems Engineer with design architect experience to provide design
and some administration support for various systems throughout the
enterprise-level communications infrastructure. This will include creating
complete designs, creating build documentation, installation support, and
administration support.  This individual will also be responsible for the
quality control of the deployed systems. Additional responsibilities to
include:

   - Installs and maintains voice network systems and equipment
   - Ensures systems meet business needs and objectives.
   - Resolves escalated complex support issues.
   - Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for the resolution of complex
   voice, voice mail, system servers, and network problems.
   - Gathers customer requirements and writes technical solutions/build
   documents with recommended solutions/designs
   - Collaborates with users, vendors, and other technical staff members on
   the identification, isolation and correction of problems and enhancements
   in the voice networks and systems.
   - Provide formal or informal knowledge sharing regarding the use of new
   and existing technologies and firm processes.
   - Installs, maintains, and monitors overall performance of the voice
   network, including establishing routing groups, analog and digital line
   configurations and installations, voice mail, and reporting.
   - Participates in efforts to define and develop cost effective voice
   solutions/enhancements to optimize business needs and communications
   equipment/software capabilities. To include: researching, performing cost
   benefit analysis, recommending and gaining commitments.
   - Participates in the development and implementation of best practices,
   policies, processes and procedures for the voice department as well as the
   enterprise.
   - Proactively analyze, troubleshoot and resolve telecommunications
   systems and circuit issues in a timely manner.


   - Consistently follow standard change management processes and ensures
   less experienced engineers also do. Document and evaluate impact of
   required changes to the various networked systems. Plan, schedule and
   communicate changes to be implemented.

*Work Experience Requirements:*

Knowledge of server hardware and Microsoft operating systems is a plus.

   - Working knowledge regarding the integration of Avaya products.
   - Applicant should be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Visio for
   system diagrams.
   - The ability to communicate effectively while working with internal and
   external customers.
   - Should be able to manage multiple communications projects while also
   fielding requests and support from various sources.
   - The ability to work with minimum supervision and be self-motivated is
   required.
   - The ability to work in a team environment.
   - Should be able to lift moderate weight and have the ability to kneel,
   bend and twist while installing or testing project deployments.
   - Knowledge of copper and fiber cabling standards to include the wiring
   of patch panels and wall jacks.
   - Interface with customers to gather appropriate details for
   communications designs.
   - Understanding of project management methodologies and deployment of
   communications designs.
   - Interface with external contractors during project deployments and
   system problem resolutions.
   - Provide upper level technical support for the field communications
   technicians.
   - Provide technical input on communications contracts and agreements.
   - Current knowledge of Avaya’s most recent releases

*Education / Certification Requirements:*

   - A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications
   Engineering, or Information Technology, or equivalent work experience is
   required.
   - Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience with administration and
   implementation of the Avaya products.
   - Avaya APDS certification is strongly preferred (The APDS – UC/CC –
   This UC/CC Credential recognizes that the successful candidate has
   important knowledge and skills necessary to design an appropriate and
   effective UC solution to meet the customer’s requirements. The UC solution
   area includes the following products: Communication Manager (CM), CM
   Branch, System Manager, Session Manager, Avaya one-X® Products, CM
   Messaging, Modular Messaging, Message Networking, IA770, IALX, Meeting
   Exchange, and Avaya Web Conferencing. The CC solution covers Contact
   Centre.)

Our ideal candidate will be a solution-oriented Avaya Implementation
Specialist with 5+ years experience in a client-interfacing, Avaya IP
Office Implementation role and have the ability to fully implement, install
and manage Avaya IP Office. He/She will have the ability to thrive in a
fast-paced sometimes stressful environment, while maintaining a
professional and composed demeanor and a proven track record of providing
high level support to Avaya telephone system users in person, via telephone
and/or from a remote location.
