*Position:Product Engineer – Software* *Location:Farmington hills / Livonia, MI.* *Duration;contract* *Skills required (highlight and bold one primary skill)* • Support of product development activities • Evaluate & solve problems in product development & production • Support & lead cost saving activities • Generate and release new material specifications • Investigate new products, materials and processes • Assist in evaluating and supporting supply sources • Interface and communicate with customer base as needed • Perform laboratory analyses & generate reports as required • Special projects as required • Good communication and interpersonal skills *Qualification:* • B.S. in Materials Science/Engineering, Metallurgy or Chemistry. *Desired candidate profile* • Seven years minimum experience in a materials engineering environment. • Familiarity with materials lab test equipment/procedures such as SEM, FTIR, hardness testing, metallography, and failure analysis is highly desired. • Also experience in ferrous & non-ferrous metallurgy, electroplating & coatings, heat treating, elastomers and plastics are desired. • Background in automotive-related working environment is a plus. *Job description * • Client is a leading developer and innovator in the rapidly growing field of Driver Assist Systems (DAS). • These camera- and radar-based technologies assist drivers by providing information and acting on environmental data at the front, side and rear of vehicles to help warn drivers of impending danger. • They can also provide intuitive cues or actions such as braking and steering inputs to help “coach” the driver to stay in lane or offer convenience functions like Adaptive Cruise Control.
