*Job Description:*



*Role: OBDII Engineer – Hybrid Powertrain*

*Duration: 6 months+*

*Location: Irvine, CA*

*Phone/Skype*



*Job Details:*

·         Employ working knowledge of CCR Title 13 §1968.2 to aid in design
and architecture of hardware and control systems in compliance with CARB's
regulations

·         Display specific understanding of Comprehensive Components; head
up intelligent system architecture regarding design with OBDII in mind from
perspective of relevant Powertrain Components

·         Employ knowledge of applicable standards to implement a compliant
and certifiable vehicle-level OBDII system

·         Work with all relevant Powertrain ECU'S (Engine Control Module,
Hybrid Control Module, Electronic Brake Control Module) in defining
relevant requirements, diagnostic strategies, and calibrations

·         Work with all groups to identify systems or components that may
become OBD-relevant based on new regulations and new development

·         Work with OBDII group in establishing company standards,
procedures, and requirements for the company as relates to OBDII

·         Display knowledge of SAE J2012; assign appropriate trouble codes
and define relevant OEM-specific trouble codes

·         Head up activities related to CARB certification including
preparation of OBDII Application for relevant ECU’s; display working
knowledge of associated test procedures and requirements and support
related activities (i.e., OBDII Monitoring Demonstration, J1711)

·         Support definition and implementation of End of Line testing
procedure for relevant ECU’s

·         Stay up-to-date on latest regulations and communicate new
requirements and phase-in information to engineering and management

·         Maintain documentation as relates to regulatory requirements
(White Paper, Summary Table, DTC list) for relevant ECU’s



*Job Requirements*

·         B.S. in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or
Mechatronics)

·         Basic understanding of PHEV / EV powertrain architecture

·         At least 1 years’ experience in OBDII (more experience is a plus)

·         Knowledge of ODX / CANdela / Diagnostic Files

·         Familiarity with CARB OBDII regulations (1968.2)

·         Working knowledge of basic OBD (sensor diagnostics)

·         Working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN)

·         Familiarity with applicable industry standards (J1979, J2012,
J1711, J1699)

·         Familiarity with diagnostic protocols (KPW2000,  UDS)

·         Experience with diagnostics for traditional engine

·         Experience designing diagnostic strategies for PHEV’s and EV’s
 (desired)

·         Experience with CANalyzer and Vector suite software/hardware
(desired)

·         Experience performing in-vehicle testing utilizing
break-out-boxes or other fault insertion methods (desired)
