** *Job Description: Configuration Manager * The position will be responsible for coordinating the activities of all teams involved in a release. The activities that need to be coordinated for a release include: cross-team project milestones, deployment planning, scope management, release schedule, dependency and risk management, release criteria, metrics, deployment to production and post-release lessons learned. You will need to work closely with Project Managers and Program Managers to engage them with the various release stakeholders, prepare the shared release plan and manage to that plan. The candidate for this job needs to be able to work across organizational units, make certain that each stakeholder understands his/her responsibilities and delivers in accordance with the established plan. The Release Manager is a highly organized, articulate, detail-oriented, and has an understanding of business operations and is comfortable leading and delegating within a cross-functional team structure. *Key responsibilities:* · Plan and coordinate activities leading to a release across teams. · Work with stakeholders from multiple teams to coordinate milestones and deployment. · Meet with stakeholders to understand the scope, dependencies and commitments for a release. · Maintain & manage a cross-company calendar of releases and communicate to stakeholders. · Work across groups to lead the development and implementation of standard release process. · Provide guidance, leadership and support to cross-functional install team. · Issue and risk management, including issue escalation and timely resolution. · Assess and communicate cross-company impact of changes to release schedule. · Establish release readiness criteria and metrics to assess release readiness. · Train others in use of release artifacts and process. · Participate in development of best practices that contribute to higher quality release processes · Maintain release web site, artifact templates and process documentation. ** ** E*xperience:* · 3+ years project management experience with full lifecycle software development. · 3+ years experience as a Release Manager · Advanced project management skills. · Solid communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) strong interpersonal skills required. Manager comments: They want a release manager with configuration or build manager experience. To date, candidates have been too PM focused.
