Job title : User Interface (UI) Architecture Location : Minneapolis, MN Contract Length : 6 Months Job Description: The contractor will perform the following services in support of the project: Assist the User Interface (UI) Designer to drive the visual presentation of RCIS' CIMax application. Work with RCIS personnel and customers in the creative aspects of functional user interaction for both web based and desktop applications to create a positive user experience. Document aesthetics and visual design of our software through collaboration with user groups, marketing, business analyst, and development teams. Collaborate with all project team members and project stakeholders to ensure the development of consistent, effective, user friendly systems. Work directly and indirectly with customer to understand the business workflow and usability needs to help ensure business design requirements are met. Help conduct focus user groups to test concepts when developing design schematics for processes and enhancements. Assist in gathering UI requirements that impact navigation, page flow, and organization of screen/page content and designs to support prototyping, and final development of the crop insurance processing systems. Translate user needs in to visually robust requirements documentation which may include Wireframes, concept models, storyboards, flowcharts, detailed UI designs, site maps, and related UI design deliverables. Create and maintain a UI design document library for use by all RCIS products. Including UI design standards within the software and define a company brand. Support training material development for newly designed software. Maintain working knowledge of web site processes and workflow to facilitate UI design updates as needed. Must possess the following minimum skills, experience and knowledge: 5 years experience in UI Architecture design for complex transactional systems for both web and desktop based systems. Preferably experience with client/server prototypes using US design methodology and HTML. BA/BS degree in software design, computer science or related discipline. Knowledge of Human Factors and Usability Standards. Demonstrated ability to prototype new UI concepts and work through implementation with the project team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills applicable when working with end users, business analysts, and developers to translate requests in a consistent manner. Experience creating user friendly designs for complex business processes that span multiple products. Diverse portfolio that includes detailed page schematics, interaction flow diagrams, site maps, and Wireframes. Strong organization skills, detailed oriented, and experience leading complex projects with minimal manager interaction in a team environment. Proven expertise writing VB scripts and SQL queries/scripts. Experience with Visual Source Safe. And/or Team Edition Knowledge of the insurance industry a plus. Should have 5-10 years of experience, crop insurance a plus. Application utilizes VB.Net and Java.
