Software Development Engineer II
Looking for multi-faceted software development engineer to develop Inventory
and Provisioning applications using reusable software components in a leading
edge technological environment.
Major Responsibilities:
ยท Responsible for developing, implementing and supporting Inventory
and provisioning applications on Smalltalk platform using various supporting
technologies like XML, Unix shell scripts etc.
Mapping technology to applications and IT architectures to develop
applications that can support the re-engineering or evolution of the current
environment in accordance with business objectives.
Participate in Design reviews to ensure strategy and architecture alignment
and to facilitate issue resolution and communication.
Identify implementation patterns, re-use opportunities, promote and maximize
the re-use of components across the various development efforts in the
organization.
Independently design, develop, code, test and debug new software or
significant enhancements to existing software of moderate complexity.
Develop solutions for inventory & provisioning applications. Apply
principles, theories and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation
processes and test procedures to complete projects related to moderately
complex software.
Apply existing and introduce new and approved technologies to develop
solutions.
Develop, implement and support distributed provisioning and inventory
application architecture based on Java/J2EE/XML as part of the team.
Move between multiple software development projects and add immediate value.
Minimum Technical Qualifications:
4-6 years software engineering design & development experience with a
combination of the following skills: Enterprise software development using
Smalltalk, Java, UNIX scripting, TIBCO, MQseries etc .
Solid knowledge of packet based networks as well as xDSL and FTTx
technologies is highly preferred.
3+ years of software development experience in Unix/Linux environment.
Advanced Smalltalk development, large scale deployments with complex
relationships is highly desirable.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent degree in sciences
and engineering would also be preferred. Masters in computer applications
would be a plus, but not required.
Candidates certified in IT Industry recognized skill assessments, such as
MSCD, MCSE, Brainbench, etc. preferred.
Other requirements:
Experience working in a Corporate Global Environment, with distributed teams
Ability to learn new technology quickly and understand if and how it can be
utilized for the benefit of the organization.
