Telecom Engineer Inside Plant Fiber Optics / Senior
Modifications to Minimum Qualifications (including Core Knowledge & Experience, Technical Skills and Behaviors)
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Fiber Optic Transport Systems or equivalent experience.
General knowledge and experience of OPGW, ADSS and underground fiber cable design, installation and restoration/repair procedures.
Detailed knowledge and experience of fiber optic node design, installation and restoration/repair procedures.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
General and specific technical knowledge and familiarity of engineering procedures, NESC standards, theoretical bases, principles, concepts, and techniques relative to fiber optic system design.
Ability to analyze data/information and form meaningful conclusions.
Ability to travel and conduct field work as needed.
Modifications to Preferred Qualifications (including Knowledge & Experience, Technical Skills and Behaviors)
Knowledge of digital communications principles & applications.
General knowledge of control system principles & applications.
General knowledge of electric utility practices.
Additional Justification
The Client's transmission network, a mission critical means of energy delivery, requires system protection and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) services to operate.
These services, in turn, rely on highly available telecommunications facilities; therefore, the Client's planned Energy Gateway Transmission Expansion Plan and general network growth cannot be achieved without the addition of this new position that would:
Plan, design, implement and support reliable telecommunications transport systems.
