More information on the Phoenix Java position… Hope this helps! What they're looking for They really want to find someone with prior WCS experience to prevent long ramp-up time. They need to know the WCS libraries. They see this as a mid-to-senior level position. They need to be comfortable in a fast-moving environment, capable of working with remote team members, and have good communication skills. They will be involved in all phases of the SDLC - at times working directly with the business. Development occurs across layers - back-end, middle, front-end...it's OK if someone has focus in one particular layer or if they have experience in all layers. Technical Skills/Experience Aside from Websphere Commerce, I couldn't get Mike to identify any particular skills that stand out as more important than others. He lists a ton of skills on the job description. For now, I think we should focus on Websphere Commerce, eCommerce in general, Web Services (consuming), MVC frameworks (Struts), and the standard J2EE stack of technologies - JSP, Servlets, EJB, JSF, JDBC, XML, SAX/DOM. If we find we start missing with candidates, let's solicit solid feedback from him to gauge which skills he's really most concerned about. Some J2EE application server experience - e.g. Weblogic, Websphere, JBoss, Tomcat - doesn't matter which one. Some IDE experience - e.g. Eclipse, WSAD/RAD - doesn't matter which. Some version control experience - e.g. ClearCase, Subversion, CVS - doesn't matter which. Some database experience - e.g. Oracle, DB2, SQL Server - doesn't matter which.
