Feedback to Independent International (UK):

I am an aged 64 American who taught himself the subject system when our
Congress passed the Metric Conversion Act of 1975. I deplore Congress's
subsequent dithering and delay.

SI-metric is easier than the so-called U.S. Customary which, by the way,
differs in many ways from Imperial. Both are more difficult to use than
SI-metric. This is most assuredly obvious when anyone truly gives it a
chance to work in their daily lives. Measuring is a mathematical thing, not
a cultural thing.

There is more SI-metric in use in America than British and Americans
realize. Since the entire world has embraced it, not just Europe, but Asia,
Australasia, Africa and Latin America, it is obviously easier to use.
Canada's reason for not fully completing the transition seems to be its
trade with its huge neighbor to the south, America. Admittedly, America is
still working toward a full transition.

So I implore the British to stay the course and complete the transition to
SI-metric. Ignore and isolate the British reactionary forces who want to
cling to the fraction-based Imperial. Millions of us in Canada and America
look to you to help us remove obstacles to full metrication.

Thanks for listening,
