Adrian,
Forget the Metric Board. It no longer exists.
The latest source on official US legislation on SI (the metric
system in its modern form) is the Federal Register of 1998 July 28,
pages 40334-40340. This Federal Register Notice is posted on the WWW, and
can be accessed through the US Govt. Printing office www.gpo.gov or
through the US National Institute of Standards and Technology
www.nist.gov. The Notice will give you thorough documentation on
preferences and requirements for the use of SI in the US.
I assume that you have a browser to search for the FR of July 28.
I can give more details if you have a problem with your search.
