Bruce/Dennis/Jim: You might be interested in my experinece with the Smithsonian Institution itself. Several years ago, with the help of Jerry Underwood, Head of the OMP at that time, we approached Smithsonian with the offer to correct their exhibition signs/data. I were to do it. "They" (I have the name) were interested but had no money. I offered to do it for the travel reimbursement. Again, no money. I offered to do it for free entirely providing someone is available to assist me at the time I am in DC anyway. No reply. This negotiation was dragging for almost a year.
