Dear Jim and All,

Recently I upgraded (? downgraded) to Microsoft 2001 on my Macintosh.

Naturally I set about the settings straight away. Firstly I set the
measuring unit to millimetres, the margins to 20 mm, the tabs to 10 mm, and
the page size to A4.

The latter two worked well enough, but the rulers looked weird. I redid the
setting to centimetres before I realised the problem. Microsoft have decided
to subdivide centimetres into halves and quarters. When I set MS Word to
millimetres the weird divisions I was seeing were divisions of 10 mm lots
into quarters, that is into 2 1/2ths (I pronounce this as two and a
halfths).

And I can find no way of changing it.

Bah. Humbug. As one might say at this time of year.

Cheers,
