They won't go away in Boulder.  We have bus lines called the Hop, Skip,
Jump, (and also the Leap, and Bound -- http://www.rtd-denver.com/).

There are plenty of wonderful ways of preserving the interesting history
of units without continuing to use them in daily life, nursery rhymes
being a good example.
