I wrote on my message 0.45 ¤. On my computer (Macintosh with French
keyboard) I get the euro symbol (¤) with the combination of keys
"shift-alt-r". Apparently this is not standardized...

Nothing. Simply it is not official, and not (yet) in the common usage.
