My theory's very simple: there's a certain sterotype middle-aged male who
doesn't like anything "foreign" or "pointy-headed" invading his turf and
telling him what to do. It doesn't matter whether it's a UKIP MP, a Wall
Street Journal editor, or a small-town congressman; you make him think
you're pushing something "French" or "government-orchestrated" on him and
he'll get his back up, and won't listen to reason. Such people shout well
and can have a disproportionate influence on society.

That's why I think it's important to not waste energy on these people, and
focus on the other 90% who really don't care.
