I would like to propose [again] a 'leadership project' viz. to home in on harmonizing the road signs, road maps, vehicle instrumentation etc. of the U.S. with those of Mexico and Canada. If this could be accomplished, it would simplify life for drivers in the three countries and would contribute, in a small way, to road safety. In addition, it would pave the way for the use of SI units in other areas esp. the media when they talk, write of distances, areas etc. This harmonization would be consistent with the notion of NAFTA. It is a relatively modest project.
