Yes, I think that BMI may be fun. I will ask my wife about some charts and if I get
them in time I will send them to you.
To calculate BMI you could have a chart made in Excel with masses from 60 kg to 100 kg
for ex. and heights from 1.50 m to 2 m. If you make 2 cm and 2 kg steps on the chart
you would only get a 20/25 chart which could easily fit on a letter size sheet
(landscape). You could explain how BMI is calculated and then just have them read from
the chart.

Just while brainstorming, something else came to my mind. Traffic signs. Europe and
many other countries use what I think is an international standard of traffic signs
which are language independent. Unless you have received proper traning some of them
may not come so easy to US drivers.

This has nothing to do with your SI subject at the fair but it does go with the
intentions of the fair and with international standards. If you think it's worth to
have some handouts with international traffic signs let me know and I'll do some more
research.

Neat suggestions, Pat+ACE- I've done +ACM-1 before and will do it again (nobody
wants to do the calculations right there, though+ACE-). I've done stuff
similar to +ACM-3 but you've added some to the list. And +ACM-2 sounds like a
neat idea+ACE- I wonder if the college will pay to get a bunch of cards
printed up+ADs- I suppose I could make several per sheet of paper and cut
them into smaller slips.

+AD4- Dear Jim,
+AD4-
+AD4- 1 You might include a calculation of Body-Mass-Index (BMI) after your
+AD4- height mass measurements. You could also show a chart (graph) of various BMI
+AD4- values for comparison.
+AD4-
+AD4- 2 What about a 'baby mass' fill-in sheet that might go something like:
+AD4-
+AD4- When I was born my baby mass was +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8-+AF8-
+AD4- When my mother was born her baby mass was +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my sister +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw- was born her baby mass was
++AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my sister +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw- was born her baby mass was
++AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my father was born his baby mass was +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my brother was born his baby mass was +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my brother was born his baby mass was +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my grandmother was born her baby mass was +AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4- When my great-grandmother was born her baby mass was
++AF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXwBfAF8AXw-
+AD4-
+AD4- You could use conversion charts (tables or graphs) or calculators.
+AD4-
+AD4- 3 Metric familiarisation. Have materials available for people to measure
+AD4- parts of their bodies. I have found these to be useful:
+AD4-
+AD4- Thickness of thumb nail (+AH4-1mm)
+AD4- Width of little finger nail (+AH4-10mm)
+AD4- Width of palm (+AH4-100mm)
+AD4- Length of hand span (+AH4-250mm)
+AD4- Length of cubit (+AH4-500mm)
+AD4- Length of foot wearing a shoe (+AH4-250mm to 350mm)
+AD4-
+AD4- Cheers,
