Kathleen Lay is in charge of WLME-8. She and I have discussed your comments.
We appreciate your interest.

WLME activities are written by an outside panel and we will share
your concerns. There was no intention to imply a heirarchy of importance
in systems nor does anyone want to "handicap" students.
Since both systems cannot come "first," authors must make a choice when
faced with the reality of measurement units in the United States.

I, personally, am glad to see that our authors see the importance of using
both systems. You might consider writing a manuscript, using only metric
units, for our October issue of one of the journals.

It would be a nice way to draw attention to National Metric Day through
something teachers can use in a way that you think is appropriate.

Our timeline is a little short...to get an article in the October issue,
I would need the manuscript by April 16. That allows for the time necessary
to send it to three referees and the panel.

Thank you for your interest in our journals.
Sandy
