Dear Marcus and All,

Our kitchen scale is a Salter Model-323. It can operate from a battery or
from a transformer. This model has a flat top (150mm wide by 170mm long)
that sits on a machine that is 230mm by 170mm; the extra length is to
provide space for the screen and the control buttons.

Here is the blurb from the site of one of the local suppliers.

***
'The model 323 features a large LCD display for easy reading of weight. A
tare function allows empty container weight to be subtracted from displayed
weight. An overload indicator warns when weight exceeds capacity. Powered by
a 9V battery with auto-off to save battery power or optional mains adaptor.

'Stainless Steel Top Plate Size: 170mm x 150mm.

'Capacity

'5000g x 1g'
***

As I said it will determine masses up to 5000GM (sic this is written on
the front of my machine) and it does this in increments of 1g with the
exception that it refuses to weigh anything at 1 gram at all, but its fine
for 2g, 3g, and for all the others to 5000g.

We have had this machine for some years so I called the local agent, here in
Geelong, for Salter and he said that this model is still available at a cost
of $297.00 (AUD). As this price includes the price of a transformer (built
for Australian conditions) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10%, I
expect the price in the USA to be about $130.00 (USD).

Cheers,
