I was on the Weatheroffice site yesterday and read about temperatures up top 29 degrees in Southern Ontario. It was 'hot, sunny and humid'! Welcome maritime tropical air! I wonder how high in the thirties temperatures will rise this summer in Europe and in Northern America. At the some time in Northern Ontario winter was fighting a fierce retreating battle against the advancing warm air with snow, ice pellets and (freezing) rain. The 0 and 20 degree isotherms were I think not more than 500 km apart!
Here in Europe it is cold at present, about 10 degrees! After a three week drought we got some rain at last. There have been torrential rains in Southern Europe, sometimes amounts of <100 mm! Global warming is indeed wreaking havoc everywhere! Here in Alberta this is what happened recently. Sunday we had a balmy gorgeous 16-degree day. We even went for a quick bike spin (I and a group of 10 others). Then... Surprise, surprise... Yesterday we had over 25 cm of (quite wet but heavy) snow! It snowed for over 12 hours, non-stop. Temperatures dipped to -5 and are still below zero... Go figure... :-( > > Marcus > > On Tue, 16 Apr 2002 18:27:07 > kilopascal wrote: > >2002-04-16 > > > >It is so hard to believe it is still the middle of April.
