I assume from the way this is written they mean that only smaller
bottles are available, not that the pint has been replaced by the
half-litre. I can't speak for UK pubs, but pint bottles have virtually
disappeared from supermarkets, replaced by 500 ml.

One of the UKMA members has reported that the half-pint glass has
virtually disappeared in Ireland. So many cans and bottles now come in
330 ml sizes that a new 330 ml glass was introduced. Consequently, the
half-pint glass has withered away.
