Perhaps a letter simply welcoming the change to sensible units.

As for the units themselves, I am a little curious about the 30 km/h limit
in NL. This seems excessively restrictive. Do people actually drive at
that speed, or is it common for drivers to exceed it ? Whereas I can see
that 30 km/h would be sensible on some of the tiny canalside roads in
Amsterdam, it doesn't seem appropriate for normal two lane roads (except
in front of a school).

I would just be afraid that your letter would give the impression that
30 km/h is 'normal' on the mainland, and would encourage the government to
perform a 'euro-ripoff' on the conversion here.
