If they do it here, it will say "1 metric ton," rather than "1 tonne." Americans have an aversion to highly-decorated words like tonne, programme, etc. (an aversion I share).
They could use that to great advantage, as they could point out that its load-carrying capacity is about 10% greater than the competition's "1 ton" trucks.
