The 9th Confrence Gnrale des Poids et Mesures, 1948, approved
the name "micron". The 13th CGPM, 1967-1968 annulled that
resolution and renamed the unit as the "micrometre".
I saw this by reading the brochure. But I couldn't find the answer to
something that I wanted to know:

Was 'micron' the only approved name over that period or did it exist in
parallel to 'micrometre'?

My 1937 edition of the Handbook of Chemistry and Physics lists the
micron but does not mention micrometer.
