I recently purchased some fishing line for our physics labs to use for
pendula, pulleys, etc. The line is made by Remington (yep, that
Remington) and it is dual labeled:
        125 yds/115 m
LB. TEST 17/ LB. DIA 6
        7.7 kg. test/2.70 kg. dia
The strange labeling of diameter is meant to imply that the line is the
same diameter as "6 lb test" (2.70 kg) but has the strength to hold 17
lb (7.7 kg).

Strange that they put a period after "lb" and after "kg". Note also,
that they rate the line by the mass it can support, not by its tensile
strength in newtons.
