Spoof or no spoof, it is possible for a business to sue another business for
using metric. For example, if a business is looking for companies to bid on
a project and the proposal that was sent out specified that the metric
system must be used in all correspondences and drawings, a company that does
not do metric may sue if they feel their bid was turned down because they
failed to submit requested information in metric units.

Of course it can also work in reverse if a company requested that only the
FFU be used and a metric bidder was shut out for not complying. Whether
such a suit is winnable or not, is up to the lawyers, judges, juries and
courts. But, FFU-ists may try to use the court system to prevent metric
from ever becoming a national standard.
