I see the article contains typical linguistic gymnastics to sort of imply that the US is not alone.
"The Metric System is used in nearly every country in the world, with the exception of the U.S.," What is the purpose of the word 'nearly'. 'Nearly' implies more than one country. Yet there is only one country listed as an exception. The statement is illogical. The writer tries to imply that the US is not alone by inserting the word 'nearly'. Unfortunately we see these linguistic liberties being taken daily in our news fodder. Anyone who has done Marketing/Propaganda 101 knows the power of subtlety. Whilst I am glad to see that another software company acknowledges the metric system, their press release could have been a lot more positive. cheers Baron -----Original Message----- From: Nat Hager III [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, 08 March, 2003 14:13 To: U.S. Metric Association Subject: [USMA:25070] SYSPRO Releases Metric Version of Material Yield System (2) Someone might find interesting, though I might refer to the systems US legacy units vs. Standard Metric.
