Hello John and Doreen. I am also Canadian-born, living in California for
the past 3 years.

I agree that the metric system is better than the imperial system, and
that the main reason Canada hasn't fully converted yet is because America
- Canada's largest trading partner - has had such a terrible conversion
to metric so far. It's kind of like a kid picking at peas on his plate
... he knows he has to eat them, but just doesn't want to finish them off!

I bet there are other new people on this list too. Don't be afraid to
introduce yourselves! I did, just a couple months ago. You'll see that
it's much more interesting once you start participating.

John:

Joe Reid is Canadian and lives in Toronto. He's President Emeritus of the
Canadian Metric Association.

I'm a naturalized Canadian (British-born), but now live in California.

I think there may be a couple of other Canadian or Canadian-born
participants in the list.

I think you can blame Canadian foot-dragging on a number of things, not the
least of which is U.S. foot-dragging. You'll find a variety of views here on
what should be done and what the short and long-term prospects for full
metrication are.

Welcome to the group.

Hello my name is John Mercer. my wife Doreen and I live in Langley
British Columbia Canada about 60 kilometers east of Vancouver. I am 54
years old and Doreen is 55. We were both educated in the imperial system of
measurement. I feel the Metric system is a much better system to work with.
I am looking forward to talking with fello metric advocates. I have been
totally blind since birth, Doreen is sighted. Are there any other people on
this list from Canada? It would be nice if the United States would go
metric, it would help us in Canada. Thank you everybody for your time, hope
to hear from some people.
