Last month (August 19-22) we were on vacation in the Vancouver-Victoria era, and I noted the following.

1.  A sign on BC hwy 17 about halfway between downtown Victoria and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, giving the distance in both km and miles (the latter in orange).  First time I've seen miles in Canada.

2.  A bottle of Coca-Cola was 600 mL a few years ago.  Now it's 591 mL.  No ounces given, but obviously hidden FFU.

3.  Fudge is still sold by the pound.  Wonder how people under 35 order it.

4.  Pacific Coach Lines bus driver (about 55-60 years old), approaching Tsawwassen ferry terminal from Vancouver, told the passengers to be back at the bus an hour and a half after boarding the boat, and that it would be about "20 miles" from the Vancouver Island ferry terminal to Victoria.  No mention of km.

5.  Same driver, upon arrival at the Victoria bus terminal, told everyone that the Fairmont (formerly Canadian Pacific) Empress Hotel was about "100 yards" away.

Frustrating; I wanted three days away from FFU and didn't get it ...
