I don't remember bushels and pecks ever being used (and I'm 48). The hundredweight (112 lb) is the only legacy weight I can remember. When I was a child we ordered coal in half-hundredweight bags, but for the last 20 years (if not longer) coal has come in 25 kg and 50 kg bags (as have most things in wholesale sizes). Wasn't the 100 weight 111 Lbs? I know in Canada they used > to use the 100 weight for weighing live stock. I don't know if they still > use it, maybe somebody could tell me. Every morning BBC Radio 4 has a farming programme, which gives prices of beef, lamb, etc. as x pence per kg. > Another question is the bushel that used to be used in the U K the > same as the bushel still used in the States? I don't think so, but then bushels vary according to the product. Chris -- Chris KEENAN UK Metric Assoc: www.metric.org.uk
