        My intent primarily was to provide "the headlines" --- to sketch the coverage 
of the meeting so folks would have at least some idea what occurred while 
they were waiting for the full report from USMA in Metric Today. A number of 
inquiries on the mail list prompted that message of mine. Secondarily, my 
comments were meant to serve the same function as movie previews --- to 
encourage folks to subscribe to MT by mentioning the type of news coverage 
that they might expect by joining USMA.

        If anyone felt cruelly taunted by those snippets of information, my apologies 
since that was not my intent. But I stand by my two main points.
1. Neat things were discussed at the FPLA forum.
2. There is an advantage to becoming a USMA member.

        GIve'em a centimeter and they'll beg a meter, it seems.
