You're being too sensitive, Han. The message with the URL had not arrived at the time I posted my message. Also, as your message with the Word file attachment referred to "appendix," rather than "attachment," the fact that you had attached the Word file didn't immediately register with me. I was trying to figure out what and where the appendix might be (e.g., on a web site).

No offense was intended.

As for the link, as I've noted  in subsequent messages, only a hard link (an actual URL, rather than a combination of a URL and parameters [which follow the "?"]) will work with the converter I referred to. That's because the parameters are meaningful only to the Application Server Page (ASP) whose address they follow.

Incidentally, on completion of the conversion, the address that shows in the browser's address field is on the Adobe web site, so Adobe almost certainly has a page containing the converter and the State of Massachusetts is simply taking advantage of that.

Bill,

I had already sent that URL before you sent this message. I sent it at 22:40 hours CET (USMA 27836), your message with that unnecessary request came 2 minutes later (USMA 27837). It is almost insulting, as if I were not willing to send this URL, while in fact I had already sent it.
You must have that URL now.
Here it comes for the second time in case it did not arrive:

I think you're missing the point, Han.

Acrobat Reader's display is graphic. There's no way for software for the blind to extract the textual information. That must be done directly from the PDF file itself. Hence the service provided by the State of Massachusetts.

Where a PDF file comes up as a result of a Google search, Google offers it in PDF form or converted to HTML.

Now, could you please provide the URL of the PDF file you attached, so John can read it.

Adobe Reader, the pdf reader, is free and can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com
At present it is up to Acrobat Reader v6.

A Word file is in the appendix.

That's great news.  Is there anyway the report could be converted in to a text file?  I don't  want to complain but my screen reader doesn't read Puff files very well.  It would be really neat to read the report.  Thanks everybody.
