[USMA:28639] Napoleon and metric

2004 FEB 11 WED   What did Napoleon do to help the metric system?  I thought that he almost destroyed it.  I remember hearing something about 2.5 cm units and 30 cm units with Napoleon.  Thank you for your time and insight.   Sincerely, Matthew Zotter
