Hello I think the British auto industry went to
inch fasteners in the mid to late fiftys. Before that they used the
Witworth size bolt. In 1956 when the MG car company introduced their new
model called the MG A it had inch bolts. The models before that
i think had Witworth bolts. I believe the new Mini is metric i will phone
the Mini dealer in Vancouver and find out. I know the new Jag is
metric. I don't think there is a Lotus dealer in Vancouver that i
can phone. Another large British company that uses all metric
fasteners is Perkins Diesel. Their models all used to use inch fasteners but
they have all switched to metric. I don't know if Perkins ever used
Witworth fasteners. Another British company that has gone to metric fasteners is
Lister Petter. They also make diesel engines. John Mercer.
