There already is a unit of metric time: the second.  It is a base unit.  No other unit is needed to define time other then the second.  So, yes I feel that unless we are talking about the use of the second, then any talk of time is not part of the discussion on metrication.

When irrelevant subjects come up, it is up to those who feel as you do to start a discussion on a more relevant note and draw the attention away.  I've only been here a short time I can't recall more then a handful making contributions to the discussion.  If there are more people out there then who post but don't contribute, I'd bet they didn't intend to stay long anyway.

Another thing, I'm not sure exactly where the line is that divides relevant topics from irrelevant.  I'm sure every aspect of metrication must have been discussed already and what more can be said?  If you can think of more things to discuss, then post some topics you'd like some opinions on.

It is so easy to criticise, but that criticism is moot if one is silent most of the time.

Subject: [USMA:28800] Cut it out, please

"Metric time", that is.  I have been on this list for years now, and for the past 6 months the quality of discourse has reached a new low.  It just isn't very interesting anymore, and all this foolishness about "metric time" is just about the last straw.  I wonder how many people have dropped this group as of late because of irrelevance.

May we discuss how to promote usage of the metric system in the United States, please?  If people are interested in "metric time", they can start their own site, or blog, or whatever.  But not here, please.
