[USMA:29573] Does M&M stand for "metric?"

m&ms are sold in the following sizes:

        1.74 oz       49.3 g
        ~5.3 oz    ~150 g
        14.0 oz       396.9 g
        21.30 oz    603.9 g

I wonder if it's a coincidence that these are so close to 50, 150, 400, and 
600 grams?
