I think that in general in the UK the price of half a pint of beer/stout etc. is half the price of a pint in a pub on draught.
When sold in cans, bottles, etc., the sizes will be in metric in the UK and price per 100 ml varies.

A bit late in the day, perhaps, but I thought I
would comment on this as I have just returned from
holiday in the Republic of Ireland - Castlebar,
County Mayo, in fact.

It IS true that you pay more than half the price of
a pint in Ireland and it does seem to be a rip-off
as I've never known it to happen in England.

Are you referring to tins or draught?
