Can someone help John Mercer?  The Caltrans PDF file as far as I can determine was scanned and has not generated from a text document, thus the Text Tool in Adobe does not grab any text, otherwise I would extract it for John.

Can someone either find the same information so that John can “read” it, or maybe even retype the important parts for John???

Hello Don.  My  name is John Mercer.  I wonder if you could do me a favor if it is not to much trouble.  Is there any way you could convert the     PDF file about the California department of transportation file about going back to inch pound to a word file.  The reason i am asking you this is because my speech software doesn't read PDF files.  My e mail address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] i would really apreciate it very much.  This is a very sad thing for metric.  I am supprised that California has gone back.  I thought they wouldn't do it.  Like i have said in Canada all road construction either federal or provincial is done in metric, and has been for many years. Thank you Don for all your help. Yours truly John Mercer

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has made the ill-advised decision to revert back to the use of inch-pound units.  See:

This memorandum lists a Web page for those who wish to write Caltrans.
