If my aim is money making, I go for 3 litre; but my aim today is also TEACH metric so my choice for higher capcity of 5 litre (and increase the price correspondingly) or go in for 2.5 ltre small package and reduce the price accordingly.
.....and it has been 25 years since the Canadian dairy industry changed.This only shows 'unwilling change' and fooling (that we changed) NOT cheating the public.

John, one U.S. gallon is 3.785 L. So, a 4 L container would be 215 mL larger than a 3.785 L container. However, I should mention that there has been a move afoot in the U.S. (I think it was in a dairy in New York State) to make a 3 L milk container, not a 4 L.

Hello I have a question. If the US dairy industry changed the containers of milk from 1 gal to 4 liters does anyone know how much larger approximately the 4 l container wood be? I have seen the US gal container and the 4 liter container we use in Canada and there doesn't seem to be much difference in size. If the dary industry went to 4 l containers people would probably call them gallons for a long time. People still call the 4 l containers gallons in Canada sometimes, and it has been 25 years since the Canadian dairy industry changed.
