So if someone tells me their car engine delivers XXX horsepower, there is a good chance that figure is far from true? Does this kind of deception ever happen with metric units?
Whatever units are used there will be rogue practices if they can get away with it. However this kind of deception is less likely with metric becasue there aren't these variations in the unit definition. There is only one watt.
