If you want to see if there are other valid SI forms,
you should expand the derived units (i.e. watt). The
square metre in the numerator and denominator cancel
to give:
kelvin kilogram per cubic second
In this case it doesn't shorten it, but it sometimes
does.
I think Pierre brings up an important point: where units are commonly
used in a profession, long, cumbersome names WILL be replaced by
shorter ones. The only question is whether this replacement is done
under the auspices of BIPM, or is done entirely add hoc.
Pierre's example of kelvin square meter per watt is a good example of
something way too cumbersome to be used as is. His example of "R
value" is also a good one.
Another example from my industry: anyone engineer dealing with
computer displays (e.g., LCD displays), uses the "nit" as a short
form of candela per square meter. I don't know where "nit" came from,
but it is on data sheets, product specs, etc.
If the standards organizations refuse to accommodate the needs of the
real world, then people will simply "extend" the standards as they see fit.
