I'm over in India for a few days and thought I'd let you in on some observations. India is a totally metric country, On TV and in the newspaper Temperatures are in Celsius, Speed limits are in km/h, etc. I've noticed a lot of use of gm and gms for grams, lts for liters. In the editorial part of the paper everything is metric, however some of the advertisements have the following.

Capacity 35CFM to 1700 CFM (which I assume is Cubic Foot/minute).
High pressure multi stage fans 3000 MM WGP (mm water gauge pressure? is all I can think of).
Tube axial fans blades up to 1250 dia only, aluminium blades (up to 2.2 Mtr dia).
Steel tubes and pipes available in 15 mm to 200 mm in Light Medium & Heavy Series.
Cranes up to 440 MT.
All of the above in italic font is exactly as written in the newspaper.

Saw a billboard for office space listed in sq feet.
I was watching the discovery channel on TV in the hotel, all in non metric with a US accented speaker. The pervasive influence of non metric from US made TV programs is insidious.
