Interesting time line, but I admit I did not read every entry. I am curious
though why you call it a metric time line since most of the pre history is not
really metric related at all. You refer to old measurements as about xx mm and
about xx kg but you could do that about any measurement system in comparison. I
think it might be better to just call it a world history of measurement vs. a
metric time line. Just my 2 cents.

Dear Philip,

Thank you for the reference to Cardarelli. You¹ve stirred my stumps.

I have for a long time been planning on adding a *Metrication timeline¹ to
my web page. I have now done so, using some of Cardarelli¹s material.

You can find my chronology of metrication at
http://metricationmatters.com/articles if you scroll down to *Metrication
timeline¹.

However, be warned, it is a long document. I began in 5000 BCE and moved
quietly along to 2006.

I would appreciate any comments on the *Metrication timeline¹ that you care
to make, especially suggestions for improvements.

Cheers and thanks again for the reference (and the stumps stirring),
