Last week, I read this letter in the Irish Times. Old habits die hard. Someone who likes to do nasty calculations, it seems. 55 000 * 14 feet and then convert the result to miles. Suppose you have 55 000 cars, allowing 4.2 m per car? You can multipy 55 by 4.2 to get the kilometres - 231 km! BTW: I am going to Ireland for a week, from coming Saturday to Sunday February 26.
Madam,
- Some 55,000 new cars were sold in the Republic in January 2006. If you were to
park them all in a row (allowing 14 feet for each), the line would stretch for
146 miles. Now I wonder why traffic congestion seems to be getting worse. . . -
